Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

After not having a period for a month, and a negative pregnancy test could I still be pregnant?

After not having a period for a month, and a negative pregnancy test could I still be pregnant?

Home pregnancy tests: They are the same tests used in a doctors office. They can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. The best time to take one is when you miss your period.  if you doubt the result you can repeat it in 1-2 days. If you were pregnant the hormone level would rise enough for detection. ...Read more

No period three days past expected period and a negative pregnancy test could I still be pregnant?

No period three days past expected period and a negative pregnancy test could I still be pregnant?

Possibly: Have you always been regular? what kind of pregnancy test did you have done? was it an over the counter home pregnancy test? Some can provide false negative results. I would recommend repeating it. If it is still negative then I would just wait a little longer and see if your period resumes. If that does not happen then it is time for you to have your doctor order a serum(blood) pregnancy test. ...Read more

Got a short, 2 day period 5 days after Plan B. Two weeks later, got a negative pregnancy test on day of my expected period. Could I still be pregnant?

Got a short, 2 day period 5 days after Plan B. Two weeks later, got a negative pregnancy test on day of my expected period. Could I still be pregnant?

Unlikely: If you did not have unprotected sex since the "two day period", it is unlikely that you are pregnant. You may wish to repeat the pregnancy test in a week, if you do not get a period by then. Use first morning urine and follow the instructions for the test carefully. If you do not wish to be pregnant, use contraception all the time, every time. You may consider implanted contraceptive, or IUD. Practice safe sex. Get HPV vaccine. ...Read more

TTC for 2 months now and still having a negative pregnancy test. What could this be because of ?

Game plan: Length of your cycle: Day 1 is when there are first signs of coming on a period, count the days until the next period starts. The number of days of bleeding does not matter. Normal cycles are 25 - 32 days. You ovulate between 32 - 14 = 18 and 25 - 14 = 11. Sperm survives for 4+ days. Since you won't know how long your ongoing cycle will be, have sex on days 7, 9, 11, 13. Good luck. ...Read more

I took a negative pregnancy test , but I still have this feeling that I'm pregnant , am I testing to early ?

I took a negative pregnancy test , but I still have this feeling that I'm pregnant , am I testing to early ?

Test 3 wks after sex: A urine pregnancy test, done correctly, gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon, and thus lead to a repeat test. If a woman gets her normal regular period, then she is not pregnant, and a test is not needed. ...Read more

Is it possible to have a negative pregnancy test for long and still be pregnant?

Is it possible to have a negative pregnancy test for long and still be pregnant?

Anything's possible: The number one cause of a missed period in a woman who normally has monthly periods is pregnancy, so it it smart to have done home pregnancy tests. Home pregnancy tests are sometimes falsely negative, if it is too early in the pregnancy for enough hormone to be passed into the urine. I recommend seeing your family physician, who can perform a blood test for pregnancy ; help evaluate why the change. ...Read more
