Doctor can evaluate: Throat pain can be from strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees a doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to see about antibiotics). Having chills may mean one's body is trying to create a fever. ...Read more

I have the following symptoms which I suspect is flu. I have had the inoculation. I have chills and a cough. Is there anything I can do?

Influenza: The anti-viral agents available do little to alter the disease although if begun within 24 hrs of onset of symptoms may shorten the illness by a day. Stay home, rest, be well hydrated and control symptoms with OTC meds. If you develop shortness of air, fever spikes again after several days, or you are becoming progressively more ill, see a doctor ASAP. Good luck and wish you better soon. ...Read more

What causes achiness when you have a cold? I always thought achiness was a flu symptom, but I get it when I have a cold.
