I have been eating one meal a day for about 8 months and running daily. How can I increase how much eat while continue to lose weight?
Eat and lose weight: Eating one meal a day will actually make it harder to lose weight. That will actually slow your metabolism down. Eating 3, or even 5 small meals a day is much better believe it or not. You can have 4 small meals/snacks throughout the day and have a high protein & vegetable meal at the end of the day. The frequent meals tends to speed up your metabolism (just don't over eat). Keep up the exercise! ...Read more
Is it safe to lose weight by not eating if i take multi-vitamins? I am trying to lose weight. If i only don't eat, or only eat one meal a day, will i lose weight and still be healthy? Some people say i won't get enough nutrients, so I am taking multi-vita
It : It is not likely that you will have sustained weight loss just from fasting. This is because your body will interpret this as starvation and will "hold on for dear life" to the fat in your body to keep you going. Vitamins are not enough nutrition to prevent this problem. Eating only once a day probably also will not be effective. I have heard that sumo wrestlers actually make themselves gain weight by eating only twice a day, getting hungry between meals. What happens specifically with eating very little (one of the ways the body adapts to calorie restriction) is that your thyroid metabolism changes, so that the T4 made by your thyroid gland converts to reverse T3 (liothyronine) instead of the active T3 (liothyronine) that your body needs to function. This is nature's way of protecting us from starvation. Anything your body interprets as "physiologic stress" will cause this phenomenon, including dieting, depression or illness. This is why an effective diet program must include enough total calories and balanced nutrition (complex carbohydrates, protein and fat) to give your body what it needs while inducing a fat-burning state. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If I normally eat irregular. 3, 000 cals. A day and strt only one meal a day that's 1500 cals and same time each day will I lose weight?
Weight loss: Yes. Weight gain is totally due to the number of calories you eat. Calorie intake can be reduced either by cutting down the total number of calories consumed or by exercising to work off the calories. If you cut your total calories in half you will lose a lot of weight (but one large meal a day diets are difficult to stay with); if you exercise, you will lose even more. ...Read more
Bad technique: Eating less frequent or skipping meals slows down your metabolism which is counterproductive to achieve weight loss goals. Instead, one should eat low calories meals but frequently, i.e., breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner. This will help you achieve your weight loss goals which appear contrary to your thinking but it works. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
I have been trying to lose weight for months with one meal a day and excercise. I have had a tooth removed and hardly eaten in a wk and no change wei?
Better way: I am not in expert in weight loss but i think your approach might not be the best method to effectively lose weight. My understanding is the more efficient methods actually increase the frequency of meals with smaller portions and limiting high glycemic index food sources. Staving or fasting from food actually increases certain hormones to encourage fat storage rather than stoking your metabolism. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Hunger pains: Certainly if one could answer this question it would help alot of peope. Hopefully just think positive about your results. Take a walk. Eat a piece of celery of fruit. Get a good list of little calorie snacks if you need to put something in your stomach. There may be a roll for appetite suppressants-which are stimulants- would need to talk to your pcp if all else has failed. ...Read more

Calories count: The calories in your total daily intake may help determine if you will lose weight. Being active and increasing your metabolism daily will help. Try not to exceed the amount of calories you need in a day- try to take in about 200-300 less calories a day in order to lose 1/2 to one pound a week. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Nothing magical: There's nothing magically added to a weight watcher's meal except they control the calories and portion size. Weight loss all comes down to calories in versus calories out. If you eat 10 frozen meals a day, it won't help. If you add a bunch of snacks in between and a soda or sugary drink, it won't help. But if this is included as part of an overall sensible diet, it can aid in weight loss. ...Read more
Depends on calories: Most lean cuisine meals are about 300 calories a piece, so 6 a day would be 1800 calories. Depending on your size, age, and gender you have a resting metabolic rate which burns some calories (for a 150 lb person about 1400 a day) and if you exercise you could end up burning 300 to 400 more so that would mean you would just burn slightly more than you take in. Try myplate.Gov for good advice. ...Read more
Avoid extremes: When you fast, your body will begin to prepare for a famine by slowing your metabolism down and keep it down until food is available again. Small frequent meals also help you avoid large swings in your blood sugar levels that tend to make you so hungry that you end up pigging out and eating so fast you can eat enough for 3 meals before you realize that you are full. ...Read more
Is eating less meals/skipping meals to lose weight actually bad? I've heard that "starvation mode" is only an issue if you are barely eating.
Wrong question: The number of meals does not matter, is the total calories you consume. By taking in fewer calories than you need, you will lose weight. Rough formula-weight in pounds x 10= number of calories needed per day. By decreasing your intake by 500 cal/day you can lose 1 pound per week. ...Read more
