Could donating blood cause chest pain if you are not anemic?

Could donating blood cause chest pain if you are not anemic?

No: Donating blood cannot cause any type of serious chest pain in someone who is not anemic. Only 450 cc of whole blood is donated at one time, less than 10% of ones blood volume. Donating blood too often might deplete someone's blood supply sufficient to cause cardiovascular type chest pain, but that is usually prohibited. It is not advisable to donate blood more than every 3 months. ...Read more

Hi, I'm getting sharp chest pain at random for 3 to 5 seconds only? I'm working in IT company. Blood pressure is normal. What would be the cause?

Not enuf info: Although it's impossible to say, my guess would be a muscular source because of it's marked brevity. Cardiac pain is neither sharp nor that brief. GI tends to be burning or gnawing with loss of appetite and/or nausea. Arthritis usually is on-going. Do certain movements or positions make it worse? Can you find trigger points by compressing the area that hurts? That would reinforce the dx. ...Read more
