Would a magnesium deficiency caused by levaquin (levofloxacin) be affecting irritability, confusion, and depression? I'm on day 4 of it and these things seem worse

Just Levaquin (levofloxacin): There is lots of magnesium in the body, so it won't deplete to symptomatic levels in just a few days. Levaquin (levofloxacin) can have such side effects, and you should let your prescriber know about them--together decide if this is cause (and if worth putting up with for rest of course, or need new Rx for other antibiotic), or if something else might be going on and you need seen again. ...Read more

RBC: The best test for magnesium deficiency is an RBC magnesium level, not a serum. If you are low in magnesium, your body will pull what it needs from your bones and tissues. Chronic tension an spasms in upper back an vertigo . can a vit. d an magnesium deficiency cause this ?

Normally, it's not from a vitamin deficiency, and you need to have that worked up medically by your doctor, or a referral to an ears, nose, throat specialist. Taking supplements will not change the outcome of the vertigo. Chronic back spasm tension can sometimes be helped w/magnesium and D3, but talk to your Dr. first! ...Read more
