Could A Bout Of Systemic Candida Infection Have Caused My Celiac Disease
Infections are invasions of some other organism (fungus, bacteria, parasite) or viruses into places where they do not belong. For instance, we have normal gut bacteria that live within us without causing problems; however, when those penetrate the bowel wall and enter the bloodstream, ...Read more
Are recurrent yeast infections a sign of diabetes? I am 21 year old. No other symptoms of diabetes. Could it be due to diabetes or tuberculosis?
I don't know: Yeast infections are due to a fungus called candida which is normally found in the vagina. However, if there is a lack of healthy vaginal bacteria it can lead to overgrowth of yeast. Some causes of overgrowth: antibiotics, ^ estrogen (pregnancy or some birth control pills), malfunctioning immune system, diabetes mellitus as well as friction against vaginal tissues (intercourse) and douching. ...Read more
What could cause both canker sores and a yeast infection? Could this be from a weak immune system?
Probably not: Rotavirus commonly affects young children rather than adults & causes watery diarrhea that usually goes away on its own in a few days. You may be able to get rotavirus if you are taking meds for crohns (they suppress your immune system & make it harder to fight off infections). It should not cause any long term complications. Drink plenty of fluids with electrolytes (ex gatorade) & see dr if needed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
High AST /ALT/ALP. Hgb is 10 and I only have a yeast infection. No other symptoms. Had crypto 20 days ago. Could be a sign of re-infection? Ideas?
Cryptococcus: A cryptococcal infection means your immune system must be very weak. That's a different fungus than a yeast infection which is Candida. If your liver enzymes are off that would be a good place to look for your immunodeficiency. I think you need an Infectious Diseases doctor to properly manage your case. I wouldn't take any chances with ur health. The weakness in your immune system needs treatment. ...Read more
I have severe prostatitis and anal itching, a urethral swab has revealed thrush (candida). Could this be the cause of my symptoms?
No: If you culture there you will grow a variety of organisms, including yeast. Assuming you are taking antibiotic for prostatitis. you will have increased candida. You may need treatment for this. Candida does not cause severe prostatitis. It may be responsible for some itch. Anal itch is usually due to fecal soiling. Avoid scrubbing. After a BM, first clean with paper, then clean with lotion INSIDE ...Read more

Very unlikely: I have never seen a yeast infection in the nose but have seen sinusitis caused by a different sort of fungus, aspergillus. You can be relatively sure it has nothing to do with treatment of your bladder infection. You should have a culture done to see what is causing the nasal infection. There is a slight risk of lymphatic spread of infection from your nose into your brain. ...Read more
