How long?: If these have been present for months or years, you likely have an allergic condition. If they have been present for less than a week, it is likely from a cold. Nasal drainage: Hello, yes, nasal drainage can lead to or occur with chest congestion. It could be an allergy linked condition. Also the PND can cause inflammation leading to cough, congestion, bronchitis or pneumonia. An otc antihistamine is a good starting place. If it persists, see your doctor. ...Read more
Perhaps allergies?: If you have had this issue that is linked to a particular season or exposure to a location, like a friend's place where there is a cat, you could be suffering from allergies. Smoking can also cause similar symptoms. A physical exam would be very helpful in determining the problem. How long?: If it is a chronic problem , there are many potential causes but hay fever being the most common. Sometimes the nose may start running after reduction of the nasal congestion.
