I coughs up grey phlegm usually late in the evening and nights or early morning, this has been goin on over a month, some of it is hard and tuff?

Coughing grey phlegm in morning, evening and night may be doe to Allergies, Sisusitis,Bronchitis. You need to drink plenty of fluids and stop smoking if you smoke and check your house for indoor allergens like molds etc

Depends: If you have also been having chills or a fever, there's a decent chance you might have a pneumonia, in which case you will need an antibiotic. If this is just bronchitis and the pain is simply from coughing, a little Ibuprofen might help. Frankly, you probably need a physical and a chest xray.
