Sore throat with pus, coughing up green mucus, chest tightness, runny nose, and congestion. Any idea what i have? Tested neg for strep, on amoxicillin

Sore throat: One of the symptoms you have (sore throat) is likely pharyngitis. If you were placed on antibiotics it is because the medical provider wanted to cover for streptococcus, a common bacterial cause of pharyngitis. The test done in the office for strep is not always accurate, so you may still have it. Interestingly, not all causes of pharyngitis are bacterial. They can also be viral, fungal, etc. ...Read more

See a physician!: Your symptoms are worrisome for possible pneumonia. You may need antibiotic treatment. It's not possible or proper to make a diagnosis without examining you and taking a medical history. Stop looking for answers on the internet and see a physician as soon as possible. Your delay in seeing a physician may allow any infection to get worse, making it more difficult to cure. ...Read more

Ee your physician: 3+ week is too long to feel sick. Whether the problem is chronic bronchitis, asthma, or another problem, it's time to see your physician. An examination, a chest X-ray and appropriate tests should get to the cause of the problem and to proper treatment ...Read more

Get reevaluated: Without discussing your symptoms and medical history with you, and examining you, it's not possible to give specific advice. Most acute coughs are due to a Viral Bronchitis, don't respond to antibiotics and slowly improve over 2-3 weeks. Sometimes the cough lasts longer. It's doctor time!: Mucus with that description, chest pain and wheezy sounds need an exam and rx help. It will probably clear up well, but if you ignore it, it can get even worse. Do it now! 5 days is way long enough. Don't enter this demanding season feeling ill or run down. Best wishes. ...Read more
