Check with doctor: You will need to check with your doctor re. The right dosing for you. For example, he could change the seretide dose to 50/125 instead of you using 1/2 the 50/250 dose since the latter will halve the bronchodilator dose as well. Your lung function test should be monitored to make sure that it is at its best since no one call predict what the lung function is without a measurement. ...Read more

Thick phlegm globules (clear mostly, white sometimes) , dry but deep cough, mild temperature, 4+ weeks. Doctor hears nothing in chest. What is it?

Atypical pneumonia: Atypical pneumonia is an infection in the lungs caused my unusual bacteria like mycoplasma or legionella and where the symptoms differ from the classic ones. Therefore, it's often harder to diagnose. The antibiotics used are different and if it becomes severe it may require hospitalization. If you're not getting better, ask your physician what he /she thinks and if a chest x-ray is warranted. ...Read more

Dry cough started end of march then that started producing yellow phlegm a week later.Suptum sample returned fine. No more phlegm, but still have irritating feeling of something stuck in chest + cough.

Not unusual : A lingering cough for 4-6 weeks after a chest infection is not unusual. The causes include a temporary asthma like condition due to constriction of the bronchial tubes. Patients may notice wheezing but sometimes cough is the only symptom. The cough will improve with inhaled medication to relieve the constriction......But you need to see your physician for a proper diagnosis, and quit smoking. ...Read more

1 week dry cough, with sometimes (once or twice a day) brown phlegm. Should i buy an expectorant or antitussive?

Cough: Do you have fever or chills? Any chest pain? You might need to get a cxr to exclude the possibility of having pneumonia since the treatment will be of antibiotics. It is possible also that you have allergic symptoms or even asthma. I would rather give a treatment of the cause of the cough than the cough itself. ...Read more
