Copd: Are you a smoker or exposed to second hand smoke? If so you may be at risk of developing copd. Already you have cough and phlegm. Other things you have to look for is Alpha trypsin deficiency which can cause emphysema. ...Read more

Not generally: Color of phlegm can change to green or yellow in the absence of bacterial infection, and brown is generally just associated with the continued smoking. It sounds like you have chronic bronchitis, and continued smoking is going to cause more harm, including emphysema/COPD. You need to stop. Probably: Soon after stopping smoking, some people have an increased cough related to the lungs starting to mobilize more tar and phlegm. Chest pain is likely musculoskeletal in origin, possibly from coughing so much. Not likely anything serious at your age, but you could also be coming down with a cold or bronchitis. Sounds like: "asthmatic" bronchitis! Are you wheezing??? You may require an antibiotic so best bet is to call your Primary Care Provider! Hard to tell: Having just a bit of blood in mucous is difficult to assess. Perhaps having a Chest X ray done can be helpful. If need be a CT scan has a higher chance of ruling our lung cancer. ...Read more

Cough needs eval: If you're having daily cough it's important to be eval by your doctor. May be post nasal drainage which is treated with anthistamines. Or even acid reflux which is treated by otc meds like Prevacid or prilosec. Also need to r/o infection. More concerning would be the possibility of asthma if this is chronic. It is not unusual for cough to lead to vomiting reflex. Chest x-ray or pft may help. ...Read more
