Not normal: People do not usually cough up blood. However, it can be residual blood from a nose bleed. It can also be an irritated throat from the cough leading to broken blood vessels or mucosa breakdown. However, it could be a serious infection like tuberculosis. Seek medical attention immediately, especially with weakness and dizziness.
See doctor...: Coughing up blood is called hemoptysis. The most common cause of hemoptysis is bronchitis but there are many other causes, including malignancy. You need to see a doctor so you can be properly evaluated and treated. It is important to know what other symptoms you are having. If you smoke, you need to quit today.
Hmm: Probably not, but could be. You should have both looked at!

Hemoptysis...: Coughing blood is called hemoptysis and the most common reason for this is bronchitis. However, you need to see your doctor as soon as possible because hemoptysis can also be due to malignancy. Your doctor will need to evaluate you to be certain you have a benign explanation for your hemoptysis. If you are smoking, you need to quit to limit airway inflammation. Your doctor can also help with this.See 1 more doctor answer

I would bet: That you have severe vitamin b1 deficiency. The low arterial oxygen is the clue. It can produce capillary bleeding and the mild to moderate hypoxia in brain can lead to an unnecessary cough reflex. Vitamin b1 deficiency can be proved by a blood test known as red cell transketolase so ask your doc. B1 def also requires magnesium for replacemen. See my blog "oxygen the spark of life".

If you have risk factors for any type of lung cancer such as smoking, or inhalation of second hand smoke from those around you, work, etc. Then, this could be important. You should capture some mucus in a sterile jar 3 times and see if you can find any more blood and take that in to your doctor for analysis. Chest X-ray to be done as well.
Not unusual: It is not unusual to sometimes get a bit of blood in mucus when you cough forceful or clear your throat repeatedly. Stay hydrated to thin mucus and reduce the need to cough or clear throat as much. If you are getting a teaspoon or more of blood/ bloody mucus when you cough or clear your throat, you should see you primary doctor promptly.
