Viral process: Viruses are known to trigger bronchospasm. Given the providing symptoms, I suspect that this is a viral syndrome. If the cough is of significant discomfort and frequency, you could have your physician provide you with an albuterol inhaler or a steroid/long-acting bronchodilator.
