Viral syndrome: This is likely a upper respiratory viral infection in evolution. Sore throat (pharyngitis) with fever, followed by cough and other flu like symptoms. Best treatment is rest, plenty of fluids, tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen for aches and fever. A decongestant and cough suppressant may be helpful when these symptoms arise. Viral illness?: Although the exact diagnosis is not possible, i would suspect acute viral iinfection, particularly if you other members of your houshold/ people at work had similar complaints. Check your temperature, drink plenty of fluids, take over the counter meds that you are not allergic to; if feel your are getting worse, have a very high fever or unable to take liquids etc. See a doctor. Sore throats tricky: It's so hard to predict accurately when a sore throat IS NOT a strep throat. Your symptoms SOUND like either viral pharyngitis or allergic, right? But, you could also have strep.
