A prescription of 1g Lovaza pills costs $50 Looking for a lesser expensive omega3 name brand OTC of equivalent purity to substitute. ?

Fish oil: great ? i feel Lovaza is way over priced. Fish oil is mainly indicated for really high triglycerides and its role for primary prevention of heart disease is unclear. I would ask your local pharmacist for a recommended brand of omega 3--and try to take 1-2 grams a day ...Read more

What's the least organ damaging/most body friendly of the OTC painkillers? Tylenol, (acetaminophen) Advil, or Aleve? (I realize those are brand names...)

What's the least organ damaging/most body friendly of the OTC painkillers? Tylenol, (acetaminophen) Advil, or Aleve? (I realize those are brand names...)

All are safe: None will injure you used as directed. Some folks get elevated liver function tests from even a little Tylenol (acetaminophen). Advil reversibly damages the kidneys if you get dehydrated on the stuff. Same for Aleve. Some folks get liver sensitivity to any of these. I would choose the one that gives you the best pain relief, drink plenty of water, and not worry about this. ...Read more

What dose of oxycodone would have the same pain relief effects as one dose of fentora 800mcg?

It depends: Even among experts the notion of opiate equivalences can be considered controversial especially if one becomes overly specific. Do pharmaceutical companies make an alternative to percocet, such as mixing the pain medication with ibuprofen instead of Tylenol (acetaminophen) to save the liver?

Do pharmaceutical companies make an alternative to percocet, such as mixing the pain medication with ibuprofen instead of Tylenol (acetaminophen) to save the liver?

Ibu could be worse: Acetaminophen, when taken at appropriate doses in a adult (no more than 3000mg in 24 hours) has fewer potential adverse effects than ibuprofen and is the preferred pain medication even in patients with liver cirrhosis (though typically capped at 2000mg daily in these cases). Over-dosing can indeed cause liver damage, but prolonged use at normal doses is safe in otherwise healthy adults. ...Read more

Is 800 mg of ibuprofen stronger than 440 mg of naproxen for back and joint pain?

Is 800 mg of ibuprofen stronger than 440 mg of naproxen for back and joint pain?

It's all relative...: It seems to be relative to just who is taking the medicine. Ibuprofen works well with some people and has only a minimal effect with others. The same holds true with Naproxen. It is important to remember that when taking either one of these medications, that one should try to take the smallest dosage necessary to affect the best relief. Try not to take the maximum dosage routinely. ...Read more
