Save your money: See a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon. Injecting "vitamins" will be a waste of time & money. Homeopathy is strictly placebo only. For tv you need only makeup. Don't believe the hype. A few blemishes are never ugly. Major scars can be improved with cosmetic proceedures. If it sounds too good to be true, it is not true. ...Read more

Mesotherapy : Mesotherapy involves multiple small injections into the skin of various chemicals depending on the intent of the treatment. Typically reddness and swelling will be present after the procedure and can last for several hours to days after the treatment. A optional technique is the use of a medical dermaroller which is roller with multiple fine needles that is applied by rolling the needlesover the area after applying a topical anesthetic. The small needles cause increased circulation into the dermis layer of skin as well as the release of growth factors from the blood plasma that stimulate fibroblasts to form new collagen and fill in acne scars. The procedure is performed in the office and swelling and reddness will last for a few days. Cover makeup and sunscreen can be applied over the reddness the day after the procedure. Depending on the depth of the scaring multiple sessions may be required to acheive desired results. ...Read more

How does co2 laser resurfacing get rid of wrinkles and dark spots? I understand that the co2 laser damages the skin and forces it to heal itself. But i don't understand exactly how that gets rid of wrinkles and spots.

.

This : This is a good question. Total fx laser resurfacing (co2 laser) vaporizes the soft tissues of the face to eliminate/reduce sun spots, decrease and remove lines and wrinkles as well as reducing pore size. This is through the production of a controlled injury to the papillary dermis (upper dermis), after which replacement of damaged tissues with new healthy, compact collagen takes place. One also sees a more homogenous complexion of the skin tone (color) and the reduction of telangiectasias (small red capillaries) due to this injury and tissue replacement. Optimal results are seen over a 90 – 120 day timeline. Be healthy and be well, james m. Ridgway, md. ...Read more

Is there any procedure to get a more overall clearer body skin? To make it glow and reduce scars and make it all an even color tone?

Is there any procedure to get a more overall clearer body skin? To make it glow and reduce scars and make it all an even color tone?

Realistic goals: Nothing will make your skin "glow". If you have particular scars, a dermatologist or plastic surgeon might be able to help. If you try to alter your skin color, you risk disfiguring yourself. Please believe me. There are no perfect bodies in real life, and you'll be liked for who you are. The key to being physically attractive is aerobic fitness and good self-care. Don't set fantasy goals. Cheers. ...Read more

Is there a way weatish complexion can be turned to fair (make it glow) without plastic surgery? How can my skin glow for life long?

Is there a way weatish complexion can be turned to fair (make it glow) without plastic surgery? How can my skin glow for life long?

Start with nutrition: Eat a balanced diet and drink 2 quarts of water daily. Duplicate any sodas or alcohol with water, also. Take a multivitamin w/iron unless you're very sure you're diet is truly balanced. Give this at least 3mos to work in your body. If you don't glow, see your doc for bloodwork to assess your nutrient status and proceed from there. ...Read more

Acne scars: Well if I'm understanding your question correctly there are several options. There are non-ablative treatments for improving acne scars. Some Ablative (think sanding smooth) treatments including laser resurfacing and peels can be used on pigmented skin as well. That may still be be an option. ...Read more

Yes: Intense pulsed light (ipl) is a quick and effective way to fade unwanted skin pigment with little downtime. Permanent removal of unwanted skin pigment is much more difficult without permanently affecting the rest of your skin's natural skin color. Ipl followed by good skin care, sun protection and use of hydroquinone can extend the results of treatment but periodic touch-ups will be necessary. ...Read more

It is normal to have many stretch marks - knees, under arm, buttocks? I'm not fat. How to get rid of these?

17 and growing: 'Stretch' marks aren't really 'stretch 'marks. As you grow, you make skin. If you grow rapidly, like now, you can't make skin fast enough, so you make scar or 'stretch' marks. Not much you can really do about them. I would be interested to hear from our plastic surgeons out there about the subject tho ...Read more

.

CO2 laser: Co2 laser resurfacing can be ablative removing the surface of the skin to a set depth in a continuous manner in the area treated. There is also fractional co2 resurfacing. Hypopigmentation is more associated with the continuous co2 rather than fractional. The hypopigmentation can last for a very long time and may be permanent. Fractional co2 is somewhat safer but may still have side effects. ...Read more

Does dermabrasion result in new skin growth? Will dermabrasion make me grow new skin, and if so, how will it be better than the skin that is there now? .

Dermabrasion : Dermabrasion is a technique that removes the upper layers of the skin through a variety of techniques. The brush or burr rotates rapidly, taking off and leveling the top layers of the skin. This process injures or wounds the skin and causes it to bleed. As the wound heals, new skin grows to replace the damaged skin that was removed during dermabrasion. Dermabrasion can help with removal of darkly pigmented areas or prior scarring. ...Read more
