Cortisone Injection Effectiveness Bulging Disc
Yes, very accurate: Ct guided procedure gives excellent "accuracy" in guiding the needle to the exact location to be injected. The process involves highly trained docs/technicians to get incredible pin-point accuracy. Best of luck if you are undergoing the procedure. ...Read more
Wear and tear can cause degeneration in the vertebral column, and cause discs to deteriorate. The supportive basket, nucleus fibrosis develops small tears. A bulge is minimal perhaps a few millimeters, and is clinically insignificant, but additional disc displacement such as protrusion or herniation may compress ...Read more
Great Question: Unfortunately, there is no good literature to give exact amount of time that a patient might expect to receive relief from any type of epidual steroid injection. Caudals are usually done for spinal stenosis or complex fused spines fo relief of pressure on nerve structures. No two spines are alike. They are like snow flakes and fingerprints and so different are patient responses. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
2 herniated discs in my neck & spinal stenosis. Only steroid injection to work was c6/c7 bilateral facet. Relief less 1wk. Nerve pain arms. Prognosis?
Herniated cervical disc n bulged lumbar disc. Is chiropractor treatment or physiotherapy better? Is traction n spinal manipulation the same?
Maybe: Cortisone injections (why 3?...There is no standard to do 3 shots.) can help the inflammatory process of the nerve roots irritated by the disc hernitaion. These injections do not "heal" the disc, but can cause accelerated pain relief. Disc herniations occasionally resorb (disintegrate) over time, but there is no guarantee that a disc is healed once the pain is gone, even from injection therapy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Facet Joint Pain: Radiofrequency procedures work well if a previous facet injection or medial branch block was performed with greater than 75-80% relief that was obtained. This is used to determine pain from facet joints. As with anything there are failures, but quite low if the block worked well. Risks are the same as with any spine procedure, no different. Rare that you would be worse off afterwards. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Why recommend epidural steroid injections when patient with multilevel degenerative disk disease accompanied with lumbar dextro scoliosis?
Does a caudal epidural steroid injection provide pain relief for compressed disks at l4/l5? For how long?
Possibly: The caudal space is a way of entering the epidural space at a lower level in the back, near the tailbone. Medications such as steroids injected there should be able to reach the l4-5 level. However, it's hard to predict exactly how much pain relief will be achieved or how long it will last. Consult an anesthesiologist or other physician with special training in pain management. Good luck! ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers
