Cord Wrapped Babys Neck Suffocating Womb
If the umbilical cord was wrapped around my baby's neck does that mean he was suffocating in the womb?
Is it possible that my babies cord is wrapped around his neck he has the hiccups a lot in the womb 2 times a day at least.. Very nervous?
Many do: A neck wrap is common and thought to result around 12 wks when there is more room to flip around. The hiccups are unrelated.I have had healthy infants with as many as 5 wraps and their presence is often noted by poor progress in labor and abnormal changes during labor in the fetal heart rate on the monitor. This rarely causes any issues before the work of labor starts.C-section is often needed. ...Read more
My baby died in womb at 40 weeks + 4 days. No umbrical cord wrapping or placenta seperation. Does cephalo pelvic disproportion cause death. ?
Sorry for your loss: Tragically, many fetal deaths after 40 weeks remain unexplained. Cpd means that the baby gets "stuck" after a very prolonged labor. If you decide to have another child, give yourself enough time to grieve and heal, and then work closely with a perinatologist (high risk OB specialist) who can do extra specialized testing and monitor well. ...Read more
Could be: I've had newborns with as many as 5 neck loops or up to 3 true knots in the umbilical cord all grow up & do fine. In both cases monitoring during labor produced heart rate changes that led to a cesarean delivery. Kids without stress patterns during labor have a loose loop & are unlikely to have problems. Sometimes the wrap prevents baby from delivering normally, holding them back like a yoyo. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Dr said umbilical cord is wrapped around baby's neck. I'm 37 weeks. dr doesn't seem concerned but I am very worried. should I request for a c section?
No.: Not at all. In fact, it's almost guaranteed, given the length of the cord and how little space there is, that the cord is all around the baby. If the cord is in someways compromised, i.e., if it is pinched in there somewhere, it would result in decreased baby movements. You can take an active baby as a good sign. ...Read more
