Different supplement: Omega 3 fatty acids are a type of "good" fat that is found in fatty fish e.g., salmon, etc. Coenzyme q10 is a supplement that is thought to help with muscle pain and/or weakness, especially in people on statin drugs like lipitor, (atorvastatin) zocor, etc. Since those drugs block the coq10 pathway and sometimes have muscle pains as a side effect. ...Read more

Doc wants me to take three 300mg of krill oil daily after my omega 3 test came back. I had been taking 1 krill plus a fish oil daily. Is this unusual?
EPA ; DHA: Fish oil and krill oil have 2 major components: epa and dha. Generally people need at least 1-2 grams of epa, and at least 500 mg dha daily. The preparations you were using may not have delivered this much of each component in the capsules you were taking, so you needed more. Please know that if you eat wild alaskan salmon, sardines, etc at least twice each week, you may not need supplements. ...Read more
Hello, I have Nutrilite heart health omega-3 supplement, but It says to take 3 softgels per day before meals. Can I take all three softgels at once?
You Like Fish Burps?: Better to split them up. Better absorbed with food. If you don't eat three meals a day then take two with one meal and one with another. But in this case food will help. Or, take the third with a healthy snack. Taking all three at once won't hurt but you want to get your money's worth, right? Also, if you eat some salmon that day, you can skip the supplement. The "real" thing is always better ...Read more

No real evidence: You'll hear conflicting claims even from informed physicians as to whether omega 3's offer a real cardiovascular benefit. My own reading of the last three big studies leads me to skepticism but others I respect here will disagree. They has use as anti-inflammatories. There's nothing whatever to suggest they actually slow the biological clock independent of vascular health. ...Read more
Not ideal: It is far healthier to consume omega-3s from a natural source such as wild salmon than from fish oil or synthetic forms. The question is why are you taking this supplement in the first place? To reduce cholesterol? Anti-inflammatory? Anti-coagulant? Brain health? Whatever the reason, wild pacific salmon is still preferable. Don't buy into the hype that the pills are nearly as beneficial. ...Read more
