Copd cause low grade fever? I've heard when carbon builds up in body? Or low oxygen?

Copd cause low grade fever? I've heard when carbon builds up in body? Or low oxygen?

Sometimes: COPD may cause low grade fever if inflammation in the airway is present. The lung is responsible for eliminating carbon dioxide produced by the body. If carbon dioxide is high then the oxygen level will be lower. An arterial blood gas can determine if hypercarbia is present. Therapy includes bronchodilators and possible low flow oxygen. ...Read more

I have copd, was put on oxygen due to a bad cold and low oxygen levels. Why am i short of breath while on this oxygen? It's set at 2.

I have copd, was put on oxygen due to a bad cold and low oxygen levels. Why am i short of breath while on this oxygen? It's set at 2.

Several Factors: Your shortness of breath can be due to inadequate oxygen getting into your blood. This is a function of gas exchange. It might be manageable by increasing your oxygen, but you should check with your doctor first. Sometimes increasing the oxygen can actually make you breathe in and out less, resulting in the retention of carbon dioxide - which is bad. Good luck and feel free to ask more. ...Read more

If you are on o2 for COPD and are traveling in a wide body jet that depressurizes, what do you do?

Take O2 with you: Most aircrafts are pressurized to 10, 000 feet or less even if cruising at much higher altitude. You will need oxygen on board. Contact your airline for a list of approved devices. They will request an attestation from your doctor. Take the list of approved devices to your oxygen provider, they will get one for you or tell you where to get it. Have a nice trip. ...Read more

If you are on oxygen due to COPD and start exercising and stop smoking could you get off oxygen?

If you are on oxygen due to COPD and start exercising and stop smoking could you get off oxygen?

It's possible: It's possible but not certain. If stopping smoking helps your mucus production and bronchospasm that would help and if exercise resulted in significant weight loss that might help but if most of the hypoxia was related to emphysema then those interventions might not make much difference in oxygen levels. Best to quit smoking either way though to avoid cancer and disease progression. ...Read more

Last stage COPD lower lip twitching is this normal.

Not normal: With severe COPD comes anxiety and often that can be manifested by quivering lips. Is there any tingling sensation? Any issues with hand spasms? In that case we think about your calcium level being low. If there are no symptoms of muscle weakness, flickering or fasciculations elsewhere, it is less likely to be a neurological condition. Try meditation-helps many of my patients with severe copd. ...Read more
