BCP: They are generally effective for sure after you have completed one pack and are probably effective after you have been on it 1-2 weeks. You should take the pills at the same time everyday, usually in the morning but that does't matter. The reason to do this is to prevent breakthrough bleeding. They will still be effective if you take them a few hours different each day. ...Read more

Yes if taken: Loestrin is a brand name for a BCP. And if taken according to the directions is a very effective contraceptive. Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) is a combination of two "sulfa" antibiotics and has nothing to do with the BCP. ...Read more
