Contact Skin Rash
Rash lining and inside lips; started with itching, turned to burning later on.. I have started using the vasoline and it is working wonderful, but I wanted to find out if this is most likely a skin contact rash or something ingested?
Could be either one: What you describe could come from contact with a substance, like lip product, that you came in contact with. You may be allergic to one of the components. It is also possible that you had an allergic reaction to something you ate. Try to look back over the time just before you got the rash and figure out what it might have been. It does not sound like herpes if burning went away quickly. ...Read more
I am experiencing skin rash (quality: itchiness, flaking or scaling) . Only on neck, little red patches, seem to transfer with contact (scratching).
Many causes...: Itchy spots can be from many causes, such as: hives, viral infections, other infections, medication causes, hot-tub rashes, heat rashes, reactions to creams or lotions, allergic reactions to various things (including foods), internal disorders (such as kidney disease, auto-immune disease), etc... Steroid creams: Check what you were using such as laundry detergent, soaps and moisturizers. Any of them may be the cause. Cheer free is a good detergent for many patients in a similar situation. Dove and basis soaps are tolerated well. Eucerin is a good moisturizer. Steroid creams will help reduce the rash. ...Read more
Allergic dermatitis: It could be from contact with chemicals used on the grass (fertilizers, pesticides, weed poisons), mites in the grass, allergy to the grass itself or any other substance on the ground that contacts the grass which, in turn, you contact on your skin. My friend has a skin rash, he said it started out small and just it started to spread. Red areas and is itchy. What kind of rashes could it be?
Yes: and in the case of dry skin, one may see small raised bumps especially at the extremities. These will often be prevented by using a moisturizer with 3 minutes after bathing. A rash can also be induced by scratching as well. Some skin rashes are caused by allergies (often contact, drug etc) while many are not. ...Read more
I have allergy, probably to Ponstan 500. The skin rash is nearly gone after 5 days, but now I start to have really bad rashes. What should I do?
Something else?: If the rash improved without treatment only to return a few days after (your dates were not defined), then the problem may be from something other than the drug implicated. If the rash was treated and returned after the treatment was stopped, then the rash (if due to the drug) may last for 2-3 weeks. ...Read more
How accurate is a skin patch test to determine contact allergies which cause itching in absence of an obvious rash?
Patch testing: Patch testing is used to identify chemical sensitivities. Contact with these allergens causes a rash at the site of contact. If you do not have a body rash (but only itching) is much less likely that you have contact allergy as the cause of your symptoms. Start by eliminating fragranced products that may contact your skin (detergent, fabric softeners, soaps, lotions). ...Read more
Usually not: "hay fever" refers to the sneezing, itching and nasal congestion of allergic reactions to pollens, most commonly to the weed pollens and molds that are common during the time of year that hay is being harvested.
