What are safe laxative tea for pregnant which help in constipation?

Take care: I am a big fan of herbal medicines, but use during pregnancy is complicated by lack of safety data and lack of control over the product. I actually favor use of magnesium tabs. A safe and effective smooth muscle relaxant, they work great at bedtime (400-800mg- start low to avoid cramps or diarrhea) for everything from constipation to restless legs to leg cramps! ...Read more

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Constipated for a long time now and depended on enema, laxative, etc. Now pregnant with 2nd baby and seriously constipated. Help!

Common problem: Constipation is a common problem in pregnancy. It is safe to use a fiber supplement, probiotics, a stool softener like colace, or a gentle laxative like miralax (polyethylene glycol). My concern is that the constipation was happening in between pregnancies (when things should have been getting back to normal). I'd like to know if your doctor has checked your thyroid function levels. Hypo-thyroid can cause constipation. ...Read more

If I'm waiting to see if I'm pregnant, the two week wait, im bloated and constipated badly, if I took a laxative, would that stop implantation?

If I'm waiting to see if I'm pregnant, the two week wait, im bloated and constipated badly, if I took a laxative, would that stop implantation?

No, but...: No it won't, but if the laxative causes severe diarrhea, the dehydration could interrupt the process of implantation. The uterus with a developing pregnancy needs a "quiet" room to conduct its' business, and that is very hard when there is an intestinal "party going on next door". ...Read more

I am about 5 weeks pregnant and I have been constipated for about 3 weeks and I took 2 women's laxative and I'm scared it's going to harm my baby  ?

"Bricking" it up?: Constipation in pregnancy is very common in pregnancy so much so that you might think you need a union card in the "bricklayers association". Seriously, you need to increase your water intake, fruits such as raisins or prunes, evacuate after the first substantial meal of the day, and avoid constipating foods. Laxatives are "harsh" not recommended but will not harm the baby. Fails? Consult OB MD. ...Read more

I'm 36 weeks pregnant constipated and no appetite i been this way 3 day i try everything stool softer , fiber, laxative nothing don't work please help?

Constipation: If you don't eat, you won't poop. When you eat, a reflex kicks in to move your intestines along. Unless instructed by ob, take it easy on the laxatives. Keep up with fiber and softeners and drink lots of water. It is common to lose your appetite late in pregnancy as your stomach gets compressed by your uterus. ...Read more

I'm 8 months pregnant w/ severe constipation for 6 day i've tried several home remedies & OTC & still no relief. I'm having chills & sweats as well.

Try vitamin C: Try 2-3, 000 mg of buffered vitamin c every hour; it should have a laxative effect within a few hours and may also help the chills and sweats if due to a virus. You can press on certain acupressure points which may help as well- see http://www.Herbalshop.Com/acupressure/acupressure_16.Html
i would advise you also contact your obstetrician or midwife to tell them about your symptoms. ...Read more
