Change your diet: you need to change your life style and your diet and keep your bowels regular and soft with the least use of laxative you need to have a colonoscopy if you did not have one in the last fice years you need to eat more fruits and vegetables and eat more fibers and hydrate yourself real well slow down on red meat and greassy food exercise, use sitz bath and OTC medicine for hemorrhoid ...Read more

May need surgery: If stool softeners don't help, the hemorrhoid could be thrombosed or clotted. The swelling can be very painful. You could possible have a fissure or tear and those are very painful as well. Other rx meds can possibly help or you may need surgery. Avoid constipation: Hemorrhoids are exacerbated by constipation and the "pushing" necessary. Foods high in fat tend to constipate you. Foods high in fiber favor looser stools. Fruits vegetable, whole grains are excellent sources of fiber. Also, fiber only works if u are well hydrated. Drink plenty of fluids to keep stools soft. Constipation and: hemorrhoid management work together. Increasing fiber--whole grain bread/cereal, fruits and veggies--generous water intake and more exercise should help regularity. OTC creams or suppositories can improve the pain/symptoms of hemorrhoids and stop the bleeding. You should only use them about a week.
