Ultrasound: An ultrasound may ease your worries. If you're in early pregnancy, there's not much that you can do to 'prevent' miscarriage as it were. Eat healthy, get rest and light exercise. Some women avoid intercourse for fear of miscarriage, and that's okay. As we age...: The cramping could be uterine in origin but more likely is coming from your bowels. Hemorrhoids can occur at any age but if you have had children are more likely to have originated from those pregnancies and recently aggravated by constipation for instance. ...Read more

Urinary Tract Infect: Are you referring to the cramping being unrelieved with urination? Do you have burning with urination or frequency or urgency? It is really not: that unusual to have PRE-menstrual cramping/cramping during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle. They result from an increase in prostaglandin hormones and are associated with endometriosis, ovarian cysts/normal corpus luteum function, fibroids, early pregnancy etc. Check a pregnancy test if/when you miss your period. IBS: 19 yo female w. constant abdominal cramps unaffected by menses. If previous invasive abdominal/pelvic procedure, then adhesions worrisome. W/O signs of UTI, pain from spastic intestinal muscles & irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) likely. IBS is dysautonomic/functional problem devoid of objective findings; see GI MD.
