I've had constant pain on the right side of my rib cage and across my middle back for the past 5 months. Several mri's show no damage. Suggestions?

Referred pain: If the exact area in question is evaluated and nothing is there, you can consider referred pain. There are organs in the abdomen that can irritate the phrenic nerve, the neck can have the origin of the phrenic nerve and the long thoracic nerves which supply the area and should be evaluated. See your doctor and maybe a neurologist to help with the work up. Good luck. ...Read more

Dull constant pain under right rib cage. Horrible gas along with constipation. Sore to the touch. Should I go to the ER?

No: Use a laxative like Dulcolax or even a suppository to get a good BM. Drink PLENTY of fluids, lots of fruits and vegetables and a fiber laxative for a few days to get yourself regular and again whenever needed. This is most likely gas at your age, and an ED visit is not needed unless it doesn't get better or actually gets worse. If there's back or shoulder pain, then you should go to ED. ...Read more

Rib pain: Don't know if the 2 are connected or not but for the ribcage pain, if it hurts to push on it or tender when u turn or twist it's likely an irritation/inflammation in the rib cage.
