As you breathe rapidly your blood loses too much carbon dioxide and you start to experience symptoms which can include shortness of breath, light headed ness, tingling, chest pain, sweating... It is one of the rare situations where the body can feed you information (i am short of breath) that makes things worse - breathing even faster... ...Read more

Anxiety: Anxiety itself could cause these symptoms, and could be "long term." panic attacks by definition are limited in time, peaking in a few minutes and usually dissipating within 30 minutes. If your ongoing state is an anxious one, you could certainly have manifestations like this. Anxiety conditions are like an umbrella, covering multiple types. Panic is only one type of anxiety. Probably not: Counds more like an allergy or a structural problem with you nose. At your age the likelihood of COPD is small unless you have enzyme deficiency Alpha -1antitrypsin deficiency. You can be tested for this. In either case, you can be checked by your physician with a very simple noninvasive test (spirometry) for COPD and./or asthma. ...Read more

Need some testing: Obviously you've had some testing done to this point and I'm sure someone has already thought of the usual suspects such as asthma, allergies, and pulmonary diseases (others) though you're very young for that even if you've been smoking for awhile.....Have you pulmonary function testing done yet? I think if that's normal then, you're in good shape. ...Read more
