I have been taking protonix. The the past few days I have started having constant hunger pangs. It feels like I have not eaten at all. Protonix?

Protonix: Hunger pangs are a nonspecific symptom. Protonix may cause diarrhea, but I am not aware of it causing abdominal pain. Your distress may be due to pylorospasm, gastritis, peptic ulcer, gall bladder disorder, etc. If symptoms persist see your physician for evaluation and appropriate tests will be ordered. In the meantime you could take zantac instead of protonix to block stomach acidity. ...Read more

Dyspepsia: It could be irritation of the stomach lining from an ulcer, something you ate / medication you take or stress. Try ranitidine 75 mg twice a day for 2 weeks. If that doesn't help then see your doctor. Also take a probiotic daily to help with gas. ...Read more

getting hunger pains so severe I can't focus. eat good portions. I am overall healthy. 4 days now with constant hunger? no new med or activities.

What changed?: Assuming that you are eating enough and are healthy, I would wonder what, happened 4 days ago. This could be related to any number of emotional issues, for example, job change, break-up, new boyfriend , graduation, and the list goes on. Your hunger should even out as,you adjust to whatever changes you are experiencing, positive or negative. If persistent (more than a week), see your doc. ...Read more

See a GI: Hi, i did not see that an egd was done in the procedures that you have listed. I think u need to see a GI to determine if it's indicated. Also please take all the information regarding how your h pylori was diagnosed and how it was treated ( was eradication confirmed?)alongwith all the previous test results for your consultation. Continue taking the Prilosec till you see the gi. Hope this helps. ...Read more

8wks pregnant and get overwhelmed and start crying bcs I'm constantly hungry.even after eating I feel hunger pains.of it's not that it's nausea.why?

Hormones: The high hormone levels of pregnancy often cause women to become more emotional and cry easily especially if this wasn't a planned pregnancy. We treat the nausea of early pregnancy with frequent small meals. Nausea happens if your stomach gets completely empty or over full. It sounds like you are having completely normal symptoms of early pregnancy. Best wishes. Hope this helps. ...Read more
