Arrythmia: Any arrythmia can be dangerous, but especially when blood pressure drops and patients become dizzy and/or light-headed. Make sure your thyroid levels are normal as well. Hi, Oscar: Skipped beats in someone with a healthy heart (you) are not at all dangerous, but the symptom can still be annoying. In such cases, I often use propranolol (40-80 mg a day, starting at the lowest dose). It has the added benefit of lowering your blood pressure so maybe your Dr will substitute it for amlodipine? Yes.: An EKG and Holter monitor are non-invasive and can give good information. Lab may be needed for Ca, Mg and K levels if you are on other meds or have loose stools.
