Does Align actually work?? I want to use it but scared it'll make my symptoms of bloating, gas, stomach pain etc. Worse. I'm 19
Neutral factor: The symptoms you mention may improve with a probiotic, but I would look at other issues too. A probiotic just allows your germ balance in your gut to have "happy" germs. But it will not change the response your system has to eating foods you can't process. Keep a food diary & read labels. Do selective food eliminations to see if things like dairy, coffee, red dye #40, etc. Make you worse & avoid. ...Read more
I've had stomach pain, bloating and gas for 3 days now. Pain comes in waves, starts at navel and irradiates downwards. Very painful. What can it be?
SoundsLikeAVacation: Three days is long enough to wonder why. Would be hard to pin-down exactly the cause, but the symptoms are enough to justify a visit to your friendly local Urgent Care for an exam and possibly a test or two. I'd assume you've been in no mood to eat or drink but keep in mind that fluid loss makes everything feel worse, so at least try frequent small sips of water or diluted Gatorade. ...Read more

Need evaluation: 2 weeks is not enough time for decision making, but you should expect to experience some degree of improvement by this time. Heartburn or abdominal pain that does not respond to ppi therapy should be evaluated further for potentially more sinister (ulcer or malignancy as examples) or alternatively treated causes (H. pylori infection for example). Discuss your ongoing symptoms with your doctor. ...Read more

Microbiome Food Mind: As embodied Soul↔Mind↔Brain↔Body creatures, many issues/variables are involved. We carry ~30, 000 genes from parents, we also carry ~1 million genes in the bacteria we carry, especially in our intestines/colon, complex symbiotic relationships. Changes in emotional states (intestinal control) & food choices alter the microbiome within & these all change intestinal function with whatever symptoms. ...Read more

Gallbladder or ulcer: Without knowing more, it is difficult to say what the cause is, however it can be related to your gallbladder (gallstones) or stomach (ulcer disease) especially if you are taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids like Motrin or ibuprofen). You should contact your pcp to gather more information and possibly run some tests like an ultrasound. If you have fever/severe pain, go to er. ...Read more

SoundsLikeARealGas..: First of all don't go near an open flame. Next, your symptoms sound potentially serious enough to warrant a little jaunt to your friendly neighborhood ER or Urgent Care, or at least your own doc tomorrow. This could all be something that blows over in another day or two and you could wait if you want to, but if it's still as awful as it sounds, why take a chance? Many possibilities: A plethora of possibilities exist. You could be lactose intolerant, in which case avoidance of all lactose-containing foods should really help (primarily dairy products). If you have well water, it may need to be tested for contaminants, including parasites such as giardia (other household members may have similar symptoms), were this the case). I would try a reputable probiotic and see how you do ...Read more
My eight year old daughter has been having stomach pain for one month. Today she threw up. She's had gas, bloating, nasia and acid reflux. Can virus last this long? Any way to cure virus?
Unlikely virus: One month of abdominal symptoms is a little longer than one would expect from a virus alone. Abdominal discomfort can be from a lot of causes like constipation, stomach infection with H. Pylori, acid reflux, irritable bowel, celiac disease, or IBD. Try her on a natural organic diet rich in fiber and fluids. Also try probiotics. If not helping in a few days, see a specialist. ...Read more

Pain in this area is very tricky since there are many organ systems in the epigastric area (above the belly button) of the abdomen.
- stomach - problems such as gastroesophageal reflux, gastritis, and stomach ulcers can cause pain in these areas - usually worse with eating and worse while laying down
- pancreas - pancreatitis, pancreatic stones/blockages can cause epigastric pain, sometimes radiating to the back
- liver/gallbladder - hepatitis, gall stones or gall bladder disease can cause pain in the right upper quadrant or epigastric area
- intestinal - duodenal ulcers, diverticulitis, infections, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel disease and constipation can cause pain there because the colon loops up into that area
- kidney - kidney stones or infections can cause pain in the right or left upper quadrant, though many people feel it in their backs.
- gyne (if you're female) - ovarian pain from a cyst or even an infection from a sexually transmitted disease can cause pain in the right or left upper quadrant and back.
And all those are just a few of the things that could be going on. So, your best option is to be seen by a doctor and examined to determine the cause of your pain.

Bloating and burning in rectum after bowel movement lots of bloating and gas, burning in rectum. Some times my stomach will gurgle and have stomach pain sometimes les. And very lose stooles.
It sounds like you may be dealing with gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining) and possibly hemorrhoids. The best thing for you to do is see your primary care provider for a complete work up and treatment. You will likely need blood tests and a stool test to check for blood. After a complete examination and results your doctor may order additional tests (i.E endoscopy or colonoscopy)or that may not be necessary and treatment can be started.
