Swallow ok?: Most important question is can you swallow without trouble? If not, then see your dr. sooner rather than later. This feeling can be due to reflux, constriction or even anxiety. Globus Pharyngis: I've heard it diagnosed as globus pharyngis or hystericus. It's a lump in the throat feeling w/o actual cause. It is usually anxiety, can be GERD or post-nasal drip. Here's a wonderful video that shows how to deal with it. Lovely British accent - helpful advise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ys_fxSLIyzw Best wishes! ...Read more

Reflux?: Many of my patients have this complaint. Acid reflux can come up to your throat and inflame the tissues of the voicebox(larynx) which are sensitive. This causes swelling and the sensation that something is always there. But other things as well, including cancer. If it persists i tell people to get into see an ENT to evaluate. ...Read more

Globus sensation: That is the medical term for what you are describing. Can be a very vexing problem. In some cases, it is due to occult reflux. Try some OTC Prilosec and see if if helps or not. If not, see your doctor to see if you should be referred to a specialist such as a Gastroenterologist or ENT. ...Read more

Esophageal disorder: Your symptoms could be related to esophageal function versus a scarring or narrowing of the esophagus, and deserve further workup. How they tie into a headache is unclear. If your problem is actually swallowing then it could be neurologic. If it's that food gets stuck on the way down it's more likely the esophagus and you should see a gastroenterologist. ...Read more
