I've heard it diagnosed as globus pharyngis or hystericus. It's a lump in the throat feeling w/o actual cause. It is usually anxiety, can be GERD or post-nasal drip. Globus sensation: That is the medical term for what you are describing. Can be a very vexing problem. In some cases, it is due to occult reflux. Try some OTC Prilosec and see if if helps or not. R/O TONSILITIS: LATYNGITIS and recurrent sore throats can cause tonsillitis. You need to be examined and have a throat culture.
