A foriegn body that completely prevents breathing is a complete airway obstruction. I don't know what you are describing. Yes: Swallowing lots of snot can cause nausea. The post nasal drip and runny nose could be from the increased dry air due to the heat being on all the time because of the "polar vortex". It can be.: That sensation may be a manifestation of food actually having a tough time going through an irritated esophagus, or it may be what is called globus sensation. Globus sensation is the feeling of something in the throat when nothing is there. It may be related to reflux also. Frequently that sensation goes away with good control of acid reflux.
