Is a dull pain ad the bak of tongue/top of throat indicative of a simple sore throat or strep?

Can be either one: Mild nose and throat symptoms can be from cold viruses, strep throat, allergies, etc... It can be difficult to tell what the cause is. If symptoms only last 1-2 days, it was likely allergies, irritation, or a mild cold. Doctors have rapid 5-minute tests for strep, so a primary care doctor can diagnose strep and start antibiotics "right away", which means within the first 3 days of strep symptoms. ...Read more

Think about this and try figuring out cause, or see an ENT doctor. ...Read more

A lot of mucous draining in throat. Swallow because of it. Can this cause nausea. Occasional nose runs clear.

Yes: Swallowing lots of snot can cause nausea. The post nasal drip and runny nose could be from the increased dry air due to the heat being on all the time because of the "polar vortex". Would recommend humidifier on in bedroom 24/7, and use lots of saline nasal spray so that your nose thinks it can stop making its own goo.! great personal steam nebulizer is "my pur mist" at target. Works great! ...Read more

LERD possible: Exposure of the vocal cords to stomach acid & pepsin will result in inflammation of the vocal cords (as is also often seen with acid regurgitation). Acute laryngitis may result, but watch out for chronic hoarseness, throat clearing, airway spasms, bronchitis, an asthma-type presentation, and even a higher risk of throat cancer. Agree, further evaluation is in order. ...Read more
