See ENT: I believe you need an ENT consult to evaluate your throat situation. You may not have GERD but possibly LPR (laryngopharyngeal reflux) which is not neccessarily associated with heart burns. Your ENT doctor should be able to help you on this issue. ...Read more

Phlegm in throat: Phlegm in the throat associated with throat clearing and heartburn symptoms sounds like acid reflux. Generally treatment would start out with acid avoidance (citrus, tomatoes, peppermint, coffee, peppermint, etc) Acid irritating the throat frequently results in increased mucous and prompts throat clearing. What's the question?: The symptoms sound like a viral respiratory infection ("cold"). Unless you develop a high fever, severe cough, chest pain, or shortness of breath, no antibiotics or specific medicines will help. The best treatments are rest, lots of fluids, a nasal decongestant or antihistamine if you are uncomfortably congested or need to just dry the drip, and a non-prescription pain reliever if needed. ...Read more
