No other disease?: Each person with constipation needs to be sure there is no other disease causing it. If constipation is just due to slow movement of the food and poop through the gut, then the things to try are vegetables, water, prune juice, prunes, fiber+water, Miralax, (polyethylene glycol) Senokot or other senna, milk of magnesia, other laxatives... Prob. Not worrisome: As an isolated symptom, what you describe is not worrisome. In order to propel its contents, the colon contracts (squeezes) to push the feces toward the anus. How long?: A viral illness and/or food poisoning are probably the most common causes of those symptoms but that usually moves thru your system in a few days. If this has been going on longer than that you should see an md for a work up.
