Confused Pregnancy Conception
I am confused about how the weeks of pregnancy are calculated. If conception occurs in week 3 of pregnancy, how could week 4 be 2 weeks post-conception? How are the weeks of pregnancy typically determined?
Menstrual Weeks: Usually, the actual date of conception is unknown, therefore pregnancy is dated based on the first day of the last period. The due date is 40 weeks from this date. Sometimes conception date is known (ie ivf pregnancy) in which case the estimated due date is 38 weeks later; for the purposes of calculation ovulation is considered as day 14 of a theoretical cycle. Early sono will confirm dating. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I'm confused because I know seveal women whom have had their cycles for four to five months of their pregnancy, conception that occurs close to cycle.
Internet: Please don't believe everything you read online. Viable pregnancy stops vaginal bleeding in nearly every pregnancy. Bleeding is never considered normal in pregnancy and is often a significant concern. If you are pregnant and bleeding you should consider this to be an emergency. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Confused! My due date doesn't add up with date of intercourse or cycle. If I'm due Aug 17th, when did pregnancy start? Intercourse and conception?
Conception: Conception, if your due date is correct, would have occurred around November 23,2014 which is when you would have likely ovulated and thus (intercourse) conception would have occurred in the several days following that and implantation would have occurred somewhere around 12/2/14.Hope that helps. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Sometimes it makes: little sense, but an alteration in your normal pattern should alert you to the possibility of pregnancy, which you wisely did and voila. You should confirm the test with a healthcare provider before you take the next action, whether that be to keep the baby or not keep. As for conception, it likely occurred before or right after your short December period. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My conception date is august 7th due date april 30th 2015 did i get pregnant before conception or after im confused?
Don't be confused: Technically you got pregnant AT conception. Since only women who do IVF can know exactly when conception occurred, we don't usually date pregnancies from concept. but from the last menstrual period, which is usually 2 weeks before. Since sperm live a few days, conception may NOT even be the day you had sex. This makes it seem as if your pregnancy started 2 weeks early, don't let this confuse you. ...Read more
Hey doctor i have been having pregnancy symptoms but the test keep coming out negative am confused?
Testing too early?: It can be hard to tell if a woman is pregnant because some of the symptoms seen in early pregnancy can also happen in non-pregnant women. A urine pregnancy test gives a reliable result if done correctly. One can test about 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have occurred), or 1 week after missing a period. An Ob-Gyn doctor can evaluate any persistent or worrisome symptoms. ...Read more
