Have bilateral concha bullosa on left, hypertrophied right inferior turbinate, deviated nasal septum.2 swollen nodes on front nd bck of right ear..why?

Anatomy: Concha bullosae are enlarged middle turbinates, which is a variant type of anatomy, causing nasal obstruction. Enlarged inferior turbinates also cause difficulty breathing. A deviated septum is a crooked divider between the right and left nostrils, also causing difficulty breathing. Swollen nodes might be a reaction to a recent or chronic infection. See an otolaryngologist for evaluation. ...Read more

My paranasal sinuses test show:nasal septum is deviated, nasal turbinates are prominent and both maxillary sinuses shows mucosal thickening sinusitis?

Deviated septum: a deviated septum can be corrected surgically to bring the septum to the midline. If there are symptoms like nasal obstruction, snoring or recurrent sinusitis, have your nose evaluated by a board certified otolaryngologist. ...Read more

I have ear pressure bcz hyperpneumatised both frontal and maxillary sinuses.Mucosal polyp in both maxillary sinus, nasal septum deviation.Surgery need?

Sinusitis : Surgery is sometimes needed... See a rhinologist (an ENT sub-specialist) to sort out your options. In my practice around 15% of patients with your symptoms ultimately require surgery. Allergy , gerd , aspirin, sub-optimal medical treatment can all be to blame. If significant issues are not treated polyps can rapidly recur. I saw a patient who had undergone 63 surgeries for polyps - aspirin! ...Read more

What this mean? CT scan
There is a right sided concha bullosa involving the right middle turbinate. The nasal septum is midline.

Concha bullosa: This is an air pocket in the middle turbinate. Turbinates warm and humidifies the air you breathe. This anatomical deviation along with turbinate enlargement can lead to sinus blockage. This can predispose to sinus infections. ...Read more

Deviated nasal septum with adhesion inferior turbinate at right side.Eustachiantube dyesfunction, is turbinate reduction only useful or with septoplas?

Deviated nasal septum with adhesion inferior turbinate at right side.Eustachiantube dyesfunction, is turbinate reduction only useful or with septoplas?

Turbinate Reduction: Hello. The answer to your question depends on your intranasal anatomy. If your septum is surgically corrected, then your turbinates may need attention because the altered septal anatomy may create a new problem with enlarged turbinates. I address both at the time of surgery. Review these questions with your ENT surgeon. Good luck. ...Read more

What does mild polypoid mucosal thickening in the inferior lateral right maxillary sinus mean?

What does mild polypoid mucosal thickening in the inferior lateral right maxillary sinus mean?

Depends: Based on a CT scan that description usually means inflammation in the floor of the right maxillary sinus. If during a common viral cold this may be normal. If chronic it could mean mild chronic sinusitis. Depending on your anatomy sometimes this may be related to a dental infection or process. This may also be a completely incidental finding. ...Read more

Ct results1mild mucosal thickening involving the ethmoid air cells and small mucous retention in the left maxillary sinus.2small concha bullosa bilaterally without ostiomeatal stenosis. Please explain?

Sinus CT: Concha bullosa are common anatomic variants of bones in the nasal cavity. When they are large, they can obstruct the sinus drainage pathway and predispose to sinusitis. When small, usually of no concern. Small mucus retention cysts and mild mucosal thickening may be related to mild chronic sinusitis. However, these mild findings may not even cause noticeable symptoms. ...Read more

Max sinus due to deviated septum and concha bullosa. I also have facial pain. Infected?

Maybe, maybe not: The deviated septum and concha bullosa could increase the risk of a maxillary sinus infection. Other than facial pain, you should also have colored nasal drainage and nasal congestion greater than 10 days to make the diagnosis of a bacterial sinus infection. Or if you had these symptoms, became better and then worsened, then you would also have an infection. ...Read more

Hello Dr, I had nosal dripping, my MRI shows "Right Maxillary sinus mucosal thickening" & "deviation of nasal septum to right" what does this mean?

Sinusitis: You have thickening of the right maxillary sinus due to inflammation, likely infection in the sinus. Your nasal septum is the part that divides the two sides of your nose. When deviated it can cause excessive mucosal thickening and difficulty breathing, especially at night. I recommend you use Neil Med Sinus rinse as directed twice a day and consult an ENT specialist. ...Read more

Can an inflamed septum cause nose polyp in right mixillary sinus?

Can an inflamed septum cause nose polyp in right mixillary sinus?

Possibly: Asymptomatic cysts and polyps are common in the maxillary sinus and often have no relationship to sinus disease. So an inflamed septum probably has no relationship unless it is so deviated that it presses into the middle meatus which could obstruct the drainage pathway for the maxillary sinus. ...Read more

Headaches, nasal congestion, sinuses, facial numbness, vision problems.Did CT scan showed only mucosal thickening of bilateral sphenoid and ethmoid.

Chronic sinusitis : Chronic allergic rhino sinusitis can definitely be causing your symptoms. I would recommend a one month trial of daily antihistamines like Claritin (loratadine) or zyrtec and nightly sinus rinses. If your symptoms are not better i would see an ENT like me who specializes in nose/sinus surgery to discuss options. ...Read more

Got nose CT scanned with sinus , it shows left concha bullosa and cyst in right sinus. I have post nasal drip. Are these symptomps of sinusitis?

Possible: A concha bullosa is an air containing middle turbinate (a normal structure in the lateral wall of the nose. This may be a normal anatomical variant unless the cat scan demonstrates it is opaque (filled with mucus). Depending of the size of the cyst in the sinus, probably maxillary), i would definitely call this a rhino-sinusitis. Symptoms are complaints. Your statement is x-ray findings. ...Read more
