I have a complex ovarian cyst that will not go away and it is very painful could it be cancer?

I have a complex ovarian cyst that will not go away and it is very painful could it be cancer?

Maybe: most likely it is a benign cyst. Cancer risk increases in cystic ovaries in Women over 60. However a complex system of the ovary can't be associated with cancer and a 37-year-old female. The only way to know for sure is to have it ultrasound and possibly biopsied. You can also look at the Ca 125 serum protein levels.again though it is very common to have benign cyst in the ovary in a 37-year. ...Read more

Cancer (Definition)

Cancer is a group of diseases that is characterized by uncontrolled cell growth leading to invasion of surrounding tissues that spread to other parts of the body. Cancer can begin anywhere in the body and is usually related to one or more genetic mutations that allow normal cells to become malignant by interfering with internal cellular control mechanisms, such as programmed cell death or by preventing ...Read more

Complex ovarian cyst fromn1.3cm to 3.1 cm in matter of 3 months. Should i have exploratory surgery what r chances of cancer?

Complex cyst: A complex ovarian cyst is a term used to differentiate it from the more common "simple" cyst. A complex cyst means there are liquid & solid components. While most complex cysts are benign this term is also used to describe cysts that need closer follow up as some will need surgical management. The decision to proceed with surgery will require an in depth review by your doctor ...Read more

Diagnosed with 3cm complex ovarian cyst via ultrasound. Advised to wait 6 weeks to recheck. Safe to wait even with a family history of female cancers?

Probablyl: Depending on the appearance of the cyst, your doctor must have felt that it was safe. Not all female cancers are genetically related (so, for ex: if you family has a history of cervical cancer that does not increase the risk for ovarian cancer). The ova-1 test or ca-125 tests can help to see if your cyst is higher or lower risk to be a cancer. But there are lots of cysts that are not cancers. ...Read more

2x us over 6 weeks shows complex ovarian cyst with septated internal echoes. Grown 8mm in 6 wks. Now at 59mm. Blood cancer markers neg. What is likely?

Painful?: It looks like you have a GYN who is doing all of the right tests. So what does she/he recommend? In my practice, I recommend surgery for cysts this size that are painful. Cysts that are not can get serial ultrasounds. Most of my patients with cysts this size have opted for surgery since pain from these masses can escalate if they enlarge. Good luck to you in lovely Australia. ...Read more

Ultrasound says complex ovarian cyst, septated, internal echos and avascular. Says could be possible haemorrhagic cyst but i'm worried of cancer?

Follow-up required: In a patient of your age, it is likely self-limited and very well could represent a hemorrhagic cyst. However, a repeat ultrasound 6 weeks following the first is suggested to document resolution or decrease in size and to re-evaluate for patency of the ovarian artery. ...Read more

No emergency: The OVA1® test is not an indicator of ovarian cancer and is not much better than Ca125. It measures levels of five proteins found in the blood and then uses software to calculate a single score measured by using a 0-10 scale.. Women who are pre-menopausal have a cut off of 5.0 whereas postmenopausal women have a 4.4 cutoff. A high OVA1® score is not a diagnosis of cancer, rather it indicates risk and should not force an emergency situation for treating a complex hemorrhagic cyst ...Read more
