It depends...: This depends on the cause. At 21 a lack of digestive enzymes (or low hydrochloric acid) is less likely than an imbalance of flora. Probiotics may help but if you have intestinal parasites or overgrowth of candida anti-microbial herbs may help too. You may also have gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance or other food sensitivities, or magnesium/other nutrient deficiencies. Find ; treat the cause! ...Read more
Probiotics, by definition, are beneficial bacteria that live in our intestinal tract to help us maintain health intestines and colon. There are several species of these bacteria that are helpful to us including lactobacillus acidophilus. The meats we eat contain antibiotics that kill our natural bacteria that reside in our gut. Today, you will replace these ...Read more
Is align probiotic supplements a good substitute for probiotic yogurt if you're lactose intolerant ?
All have them.: If the ada says it is real yogurt with active cultures, then you have your probiotics, but others tout specific strains of bifidus and lactobacilli as being better. There is little hard evidence that this is the case. ...Read more
Is probiotics a goodthing to takeafter taking doxycycline?I developed gastritis n GERD.Heard probiotics repopulates bacteria.Any bad probiotic effects
Probiotics: Most people don't need probiotics after taking a course of antibiotics, since the normal bacterial flora of the gut repopulates rapidly after stopping antibiotics. If you have a history of C. difficile, it may be useful to take probiotics, however. Otherwise, studies do not support their routine use. Having said that, there are not usually many side effects, if you do decide to try them. Good luck ...Read more
Some tips: Choose the proper foods(avoid junk foods, greasy foods, etc). Chew slowly and properly and let your saliva help you. Don't dilute your saliva by drinking much fluids while you eat. Drink later. Avoid antacids like Tums (calcium carbonate) and avoid medications that block your stomach juices and acids unless they have been prescribed. Relax while eating. Try to have normal(not too hard or too loose) bowel movements. ...Read more

What probiotic is good for candida yeast gnc 50 ultra 50 probiotic complex or gnc multi strain probiotic conplex 10 billion cfus ? Plz suggest me thx.
Probably won't help: No probiotic is likely to be effective in treating a yeast infection. If that's what you have, you need treatment with a proper anti-yeast antibiotic. However, if you're talking about "systemic" candidasis, it's an urban myth; there is no such thing, and no treatment makes any difference. Discuss with a scientifically trained physician. Good luck! ...Read more
Variable per person: Your question is excellent, but the response is individualized based on a patient's goals with probiotics. 1000mg levofloxacin and 2000 mgamoxicillin per day for 10 day.billion of gut bacteria were killed.do good bacteria recover their own or need probiotic?
No: This is a good question. You know, kids are born without gut flora. It is there at age one month, or a bit later if born by C section. Yes your gut will repopulate by itself. Probiotics are not necessary. The idea of good and bad bacteria is also complex. They are morally neutral and in a ratio, it is more a question of the ratio than of intrinsic goodness or badness. ...Read more
Constipated after finishing antibiotics. Will Azo Cranberry (with bacillus coagulans) help, or do I need a different type of probiotic for intestines?

Hey i'm taking gnc 10 bilion probiotic complex becoz yeast overgrowth.is taking gnc 25 bilion or 50 bilion is for fast recovery from candida overgrowt?
No: That cannot be assumed to be true, because almost NONE of the probiotic supplements have scientific studies proving a particular supplement at particular doses can lead to "fast" recovery from a particular disease. "Yeast overgrowth" is very vague, because it does not say HOW MUCH overgrowth, nor even WHERE in the body the overgrowth is, or which TYPE of yeast. Usually, supplements are "untested". ...Read more
Diarrhea returned 3weeks after taking clindamycin for 5 days. Yogurt (probiotics) made diarrhea better. Possible in the case of c difficile colitis?
Clostridium: CDiff does have a significant relapse rate. It has to be 100% liquid in order for the lab to process the sample. Young people can tolerate symptoms much more than the elderly or ill and therefore tend to go on with the infection a lot longer before seeking treatment. It may resolve spontaneously..but better if you go to your primary, ID or GI doctor. Avoid clindamycin in the future. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
