Why is the range so different on complete blood count panels for different labs and medical centers? It doesn't make sense.
Age and gender etc.: For many laboratory tests, the normal ranges vary by the method used to do the test. Also there are different normal values for different ages and sexes. The Labs usually report their normal ranges with the test results. Lots of stuff: How many red and white blood cells and platelets are there in your blood. Are they the right sizes and shapes and appearances? Anything extra? Any cell type coming up short, or overabundant? There are a great many things that will alter a CBC, and often this is the totally-unexpected tipoff that enables a diagnosis.
