Exercise bike, treadmill, elliptical, ski machine etc. If you had the choice of only one, what would it be?
Doesn't matter: The one you choose should be the one you're going to use. The type of machine is less important than how much you use it and whether you keep challenging yourself. In order to improve your fitness you have to keep doing a little more than is comfortable -- exercise in the zone of discomfort., but not pain the type of machine -- or no machine -- is a personal choice. ...Read more

Any suggestions on which machine is good : elliptical cross trainer or treadmill for minimal exercise?
Both: Depending on your reason for exercise either will provide the beneficial effect of exercise. Your exercise prescription for cardiovascular health, if that is the reason for exercise, is calculated by giving you the maximum heart rate for specified time. So the type of exercise it takes to get the maximum heart rate is the only criteria. So both machines can do it. ...Read more

I try to exercise daily for 30 minutes on an elliptical but sometimes my knees hurt. What to do, stop it altogether or do it every other day?
Elliptical Machine: If the pain you are getting is under your kneecap or in the front then it is probably due to inflammation. If the elliptical machine can be adjusted so that you take longer strides with less hip and knee flexion it may help. Also try knee strengthening exercises: knee extensions, knee curls, leg presses and calf raises: 4 sets of 10-12 reps and increase the weight for each set. ...Read more

I eat more non veg & I exercise a lot in treadmill & elliptical morning & eve. My BP is 120/80 & sometimes 140/90, my sugar is 92. Y BP is alone high?
Healthy BP: There is nothing in your account to say that you have hypertension. A healthy heart has varying blood pressures at any given moment. Physical activity can lead to increased heart rate and increased fluid dehydration (through sweating) and thus this strain can temporarily elevate the blood pressure. But that is temporary and during your recovery from exercise and with hydration BP will normalize. ...Read more

Any that burn cals: The best weight loss plan is a combo of cardio and the development of lean muscle mass. Do cardio exercises at moderate intensity for at least 20 minutes 5 days/week. I run 3 miles 2x/week (built up to this in dec - definately still challenging), I bike/elliptical 2x/week. All cardio is followed by weight lifting and crunches. Is this safe during pregnancy?
All of them?:
The exercises you mentioned when done correctly can all give you your desired result. I usually suggest alternating your cardio machines, thereby decreasing repetitive injury - for example do 15 min on each. Also pls make sure you are doing the correct exercises on each, if anything hurts stop and avoid running on the treadmill - u can always increase incline instead.
Hope this helps. ...Read more
All three: Most acl reconstruction patients have quad muscle inhibition after surgery, so controlling quad function is a major part of physical therapy. Personal preference: Both elliptical machines and stationary bikes are great adjuncts to an ACL reconstruction rehabilitation program. Stage of recovery?: This answer depends on what stage of recovery you are in. Generally I allow stationary biking (with pt or atc supervision) at 6 weeks, and ellipitcal at 9-12 weeks.
