Combipatch (estradiol and norethindrone) hormon replacment -- any suggestion or experience any side effects?
Tough in <400 char: Topical cream & transdermal patches for hormone (replacement) therapy appear to be safer than oral. However, it appears that some of the issues over the last decade re HRT may be due to progestin used, eg medroprogesterone acetate (mpa) or provera. Combipatch uses different one, Norethindrone acetate. I prefer vivelle dot (estradiol) & oral Prometrium (micronized progesterone) (bio-identical progesterone) as possibly safer. ...Read more

This particular hrt was linked to issues such as breast cancer and heart disease (although the study turned out to be very unreliable!). Irritation?: If you are referring to skin irritation under the patch, let your prescribing doctor know (show it to him/her) so a decision can be made whether to use a topical cream or medication or whether the patch should be discontinued. Should ask: Radical hysterectomies are normally done for cervical or other cancers. Confirm with your surgeon that you had a "radical" hysterectomy and that you are using that term correctly. Usually one would only take Estrogen for hormone replacement therapy after a hysterectomy with removal of the ovaries. Prefer Combipatch (estradiol and norethindrone): Most importantly because it is a patch vs a pill, sometimes for an individual though, one may be better tolerated that the other and one may be more effective than the other. All things being equal, topical therapy is preferable for relief of menopause symptoms.
