Combining Low Carb With Up Day Down Day
Is it normal to feel run down and fatigued after having a high junk food (simple carb) diet then switching to a low carb healthy one? If yes, how long?
Why is my bg always elevated in the am? I am diet and exercise controlled, A1c down from 7.6 to 6.3, weight down 30 lbs., low-carb, high fiber diet.
Question?: Do you eat late or snack before bed? Sometimes what people eat late can carry over to the next am and affect the bs. The other possibility is dawn phenomenon. Some people have higher morning blood sugars due to hormones which are highest in the am and they drive up the blood sugar also at that time. Unsafe, unwise: I believe most extreme diets are unhealthy and unwise and this is a good example. I advise limiting protein to about 70 grams a day. Higher amounts puts stress on the kidneys, can cause osteoporosis and may reduce longevity- esp. if the main source is animal protein. You're doing well!: going from 270 to 220 will have a significant lowering of risk of diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease. Of course, you will have about 500 LESS calories burned per day due to the lower weight. Calorie count, estimates of how much net in/out is a first start.
