Thurner syndrome: The majority of patients are not diagnosed with May-Thurner Syndrome until they develop an iliofemoral DVT. Your doctor may perform a physical evaluation, a review of your medical and family histories and a series of tests in order to diagnose your condition. Imaging tests such as ultrasound, CT scan or an MRI can produce visible images of a clot. The diagnosis of May-Thurner Syndrome may be achieved with venography with intravascular ultrasoundTreatment for May-Thurner Syndrome typically revolves around alleviating any symptoms that have arisen and preventing any other complications from occurring. If a DVT is present, you may need to take an anticoagulation medication to thin your blood and help discourage clots from propagating. If a clot has been identified, treatment may involve catheter directed thrombolytic therapy which can break up clot in the portion of the affected vein. This is done through insertion of a catheter that travels through the vein. In some cases, mechanical thrombectomy and thrombolysis are able to dissolve the clot in anywhere from a few hours to a couple of days.. ...Read more
Leg ultrasound: Ultrasound is usually effective at detecting a blood clot in the leg vein, however there are times when a clot below the knee level may not be adequately detected. In that situation, a repeat ultrasound a few days later can be performed. Other factors may lower the sensitivity of the test, such as the experience of the ultrasound tech, the radiologist reading the images, and the size of the leg. ...Read more

I have slightly reddish area on the bottom half of both knees (blood flow, not reddish skin). Doppler test showed normal results. What could it be?
How long does it take for new blood clots to form? Doppler scan showed clear of leg clots 6 months ago. Worried that they might be coming back already
Any time: New clots can form at any time. If someone has had blood clots in the legs before, it is common for the legs to swell and be painful even if no new clots have formed. If leg pain or swelling returns, it is best to see a health care provider to determine what is happening. ...Read more
Toes get red and hot to touch every night around 3 am. Looks like they're filled with blood. I'm 18 years old. Had CBC and venous Doppler, both normal?
Erythromelalgia: You are describing Erythromelalgia, a condition you are describing quite clearly. The tests you had are typically ordered and are normal in most cases. Cause is not clear and only about 5% are hereditary. Treatment can be difficult but may includes medications such as Lyrica, Neurontin, or Cymbalta. There is an association that could give you more information on the internet. Good luck ...Read more

Had a doppler for the carotid arteries and the conclusion is:accelerated blood flow, reversed blood flow above the carotid bifurcation? Is this serious?
Probably yes: You should consult a vascular surgeon. While this could be serious, it could also be a false positive finding. It is not something that you should handle over the iinternrt. ...Read more
Would transcranial doppler be very helpful in detecting brain blood flow irregularities? Would treatment be vasodilators if brainblood flow is reduced?
Doppler for flow:
Some may be able to comment on this better than I, but the transcranial doppler study is unable to measure all of the arteries, as some of them are very deep within the head.
If vasconstriction was found, it would not necessarily lead to vasodilator medication.
Perhaps it makes sense to return to what started the idea of blood flow irregularity. ...Read more
Sick 2 years ago, 3 days. Blood test ALT 245. 3 days after ALT 82 and GGT 248. Alt normal since and all others (total panel) are normal. Ggt 80-200 since. Normal doppler us and CT w/iv? No diagnosis!

I had a doppler test done on my knee because I thought I had a blood clot. All but my knee was red and blue but at the knee it was yellow. Is that bad?
Get the report:
Red is usually set up, as arterial.
Blue is venous.
Yellow varies in speed in some studies. Or some color overflow.
Talk with your doctor and / or get the report done by a registered tech and read formally by a trained physician for that lab. ...Read more

If a doppler scan of arms and legs comes back negative for blood clotting, does that mean there are no blood clots in my body anywhere else?
No, but...: It's extremely unlikely. Unless you have other symptoms. It is possible the a small clot travelled to your lungs and would present as a pulmonary embolus. Ct is the best test for that. However, a blood test called d-dimer would be positive. If your duplexes and d-dimer are negative, it would be extremely unlikely to have a clot anywhere in a patient your age. ...Read more
After minimal echotexture of the liver and few mildly prominente blood vessels at the splenic hilum what a should be done an MRI or a doppler?
Neither: It is not a good idea to undergo any testing if you are feeling well (actually you said great!). Doing unnecessary testing frequently misleads doctors into areas which may be minor variations of normal anatomy. So doing a test then forces you to do more tests and generates a lot of unwanted anxiety. If you already have anxiety probelms, then it is even more important to do no further testing unles. ...Read more
I had a doppler ultrasound done where they checked my blood flow. They check both legs/arms/pelvic area. Test came back abnormal. What could it be?
Narrowed artery: I imagine you were having cramps in your legs after walking some distance? The abnormal peripheral doppler study was most likely expressed as an elevated ankle-brachial index. This is a ratio of the blood pressure between the arm and ankle. Values between. 9 & 1.0 are considered normal. Below. 9 suggests artery narrowing and above 1.2 suggests hardening of the arteries. ...Read more
Right calf hurts when resting or walking. It's Not swollen, had a doppler done all over my legs 3 mo ago. But im worry that its a blood clot this time?
Risk factors?: Do you have risk factors for a blood clots such as a sedentary lifestyle, recent travel, family history of a blood clot, or cancer? If so, then I would be more concerned about you having another blood clot and it would be reasonable to get another doppler. If you have a low chance of having a blood clot, then your Physician could get a blood test to see if you are likely of having a blood clot. ...Read more

Can you see veins on color doppler during breast ultrasound? I saw it on u/s image and asked and dr said normal, blood vessels in breast? Nursing too
Yes: A color doppler does show blood flow and does show arteries and veins. Since arteries and veins tend to have blood flowing in opposite directions, the color doppler will show this as a red or blue signal. The breast normally does have arteries and veins within it and these will increase during pregnancy and breast feeding. Your doctor was right. ...Read more
38 was preg, R foot pitting edema, doppler neg for DVT, but sluggish blood flow of popliteal vein. Concerned that DVT was missed, scared of dev a PE!
Possiblity: Sluggish blood flow can be caused by your pregnancy also. Your uterus pushes against your inferior vena cava which is the main blood vessel that drains blood to the heart. If you are not having shortness of breathe and or chest pains, it is less likely you have a PE. Dopplers are quite accurate in detecting DVTs. ...Read more
