Erosive gastritis. h.pylori blood test positive, breath test positive, stool antigen test negative, biopsy negative. what to do ?
Treat it: The positive H. pylori antibody test is not a reliable indicator of current infection. The gold standard for H. pylori treatment is the gastric biopsy, and this is negative in this patient. However, I am impressed by the positive breath test and erosive gastritis. I would have expected stool antigen to be positive, as it mirrors the breath test. Given the discrepant results, treat the patient. ...Read more
Not necessarily: A specific HIV test has to be ordered by the doctor. Usually the doctor will inform the patient (or ask permission) before doing an HIV test, so if there was no discussion about it, most likely the test wasn't done. OTOH, everyone tested for STDs should also be tested for HIV, but different doctors and clinics have different policies, however. Call the office and ask directly. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

If doubt then : There is not a way that we can tell you if you are pregnant if you have done one test that is positive and one that is negative. We would simply be guessing which test is correct. In this case you will need to see a doctor for a blood bhcg test. ...Read more

Mild inflammatory pap smear, negative on dysplastic cells. Should I worry? Doc prescribed antibiotics. When to repeat pap smear test again?
Prfobably neg.: Pap smears are important in detecting premalignant cells that are in the process of converting to malignancy. The test however is only 40-50% accurate. Along with the cell analysis , routine HPV testing is done which when positive only suggests the potential for malignancy developing. I would repeat the test in 6 months and if inflammation seen, bx may be indicated. ...Read more
3 days late, a few pg symptoms, negative digital test but faint positive regular urine test. 8 pregnancies, 4 kids. Are these test results common?
Only if Dr. wants it: Otherwise, a home urine test works just fine. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. Home tests are cheap and sold everywhere. ...Read more
I had 10 positive clearblue digital ovulation test in a row. Whats going on? Could the ovulation test detect early pregnancy?.
OPK: The accuracy of OPK varies - a 10 day LH surge is not physiological so it's either a bad test or you have a very unusual ovulation. I recommend once you get a positive there is no good reason to continue testing further, hope this helps. The test is very unlikely detecting pregnancy at this time, sorry. ...Read more
