I had a sigmdoscopy dr said he found 2 polyps and recommend colonoscopy for removal how long should I wait most for colonoscopy? Could become cancer?
Immediately: A sigmoidoscopy only checks the distal third (sigmoid) portion of the colon and colon cancer can occur anywhere in the colon. Since you had polyps, they may need to be biopsied if they were not. Since your dr. Told you to get a full colonoscopy, especially with your hx of polyps, and not to mention the need to check your whole colon, then get it done. Best wishes. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

5 is a lot: 5 polyps found at colonoscopy is a lot but not uncommon. Most important is the type of polyp. Hyperplastic polyps are not malignant and are not the concern that we associate with adenomatous polyps which can be premalignant. Clip will pass: The clip on the stalk of a polyp will fall off after a few weeks. It will likely pass without you knowing about it. I have recently had a colonoscopy and there weren't any biopsies or polyps taken. I haven't received any info yet. What could this mean?
It depends on: several things including the type, size, and number of polyps. Your polyps were likely adenomas, not hyperplastic polyps, if you were told they were pre-cancerous. If you only had 1 or 2 small (<10 mm) adenomas, next colonoscopy in 5-10 years. But >2 adenomas, or >10 mm in size, almost all guidelines suggest repeat colonoscopy in 3 years.
