Why would bowel preps not work? Poor prep with colyte (polyethylene glycol). Now on 2 day prep starting w/ mag. Citrate. No bm after 9 hours. Followed directions exactly!
What is a safe bowel prep for a severe GERD patient on a high dose of PPIs? Moviprep, Suprep, Propopik and PEG/Mag Citrate all contain harsh acids.
Bowel prep: Your gastroenterologist is best qualified to answer your question, but I don't feel that any of the recommended preps would be a significant problem for your esophagus while you're on ppi therapy. My guess is that the gastroenterologist has a preference for a good bowel prep and will prescribe it. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can a capsule endoscopy replace an upper endoscopy &colonoscopy for a 3 year old? Is the same prep required for the capsule endoscopy?
Possibly: If you are at an academic center working with pediatric GI and radiology specialists, this can be a great alternative if you just need to look. If they think biopsies are going to be needed, then won't work. And, unfortunately, you do need pretty much the same cleanout so you can get good images form the camera and be able to see what is really going on. Is it OK to take 300mg Gastrodin twice a day from life extension along with 0.5 MG as needed Ativan (lorazepam) script? I read Gastrodin increases GABA.
Should be: Unfortunately dietary supplements are regulated as a food and not a drug - so you can't really trust the dosage on the label from most brands. As such, it's hard to say whether there will be an interaction or not. I can say that lorazepam increases the activity of the GABA system, so I'm unsure why you'd need both? Hope that helps! ...Read more

So why does there seem to be more fuss about colonoscopies vs upper? Is it more to do with the preparation required and the chance of incomplete exam?
Colonoscopy.: Not sure what you mean by "fuss," but it is true that preparing your colon for a colonoscopy is more difficult than just not eating after midnight to prepare for an upper endoscopy. However, if you take the preparation properly, more than 90% of colonoscopies are completed without difficulty. Just follow the instructions that your doctor gives you and it should go well. Good luck. ...Read more

Split prep: There are at least a dozen colonoscopy preps. However, the most effective prep is taken both the night before and the morning of the exam. Clip will pass: The clip on the stalk of a polyp will fall off after a few weeks. It will likely pass without you knowing about it.
