Why would bowel preps not work? Poor prep with colyte (polyethylene glycol). Now on 2 day prep starting w/ mag. Citrate. No bm after 9 hours. Followed directions exactly!
Scheduled for colonoscopy but afraid magnesium citrate won't clear my colon. Docqulace and bisacodyl failed to evacuate colon. Will the citrate work?
AlwaysAGuess; agent,: dose & response relationships with all the usual complex individual variables. A full bottle of citrate of magnesia will likely be far more effective than the other agents, especially if one stays physically active, fasts, take 2 days prior & chase with another bottle 1 day prior. Just keep up clear liquids. Awareness of heart beats both a focus & a self-distraction (from other greater) issues. ...Read more
Is it okay to use hydrocortisone acetate suppositories to relieve rectal pains during colonoscopy prep (while on liquid or fasting)?
Rectal discomfort: During the prep is from the frequent loose stools and wiping too much. Soaking your bottom in warm water and applying over the counter ointments such as calmoseptine may help. The hemorrhoids can also get enlarged from such and can cause rectal discomfort on the inside. Hydrocortisone supp may help in that case. ...Read more
Does colonoscopy interfere with birth control pill effectiveness? Especially the prep laxative that cleans your colon
Likely to interfere: I am not sure any studies have been done to actually confirm the effect of bowel prep on BCP, but anything that significantly alters the diet or digestion, including antibiotics, have been known to interfere with absorption of the pill. Other variables include the timing of the cycle, etc. I recommend back up protection for the remainder of the month. ...Read more
Is it okay to take a laxative after being constipated from taking Imodium (loperamide)? tried Stool softeners, but that didn't work.
Could I have colon hydrotherapy as a substitute for the "standard" prep for a colonoscopy? Normally use enemas.
If it clears you out: The main purpose of colon prep for colonsocopy is to clean out the stool so that the camera can see the linings of your colon. The 'standard prep" works well because it has been done a gazillion times. I am not sure how good the hydrotherapy will do, but as long as it clean you out (without causing problem for you), i don't see why not! if it does not, u may have to do the standard" good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Unfortunately yes : Don't drink it too fast-there is no rush. Some people spread it over an hour.Try drinking through a straw so you can't smell it.See if your doctor will let you mix it with apple juice or sprite. Finally, put a wet wash cloth on your neck and sit in a recliner with your feet up.I found that the prep for the colonoscopy was way worse than the procedure itself. Bless your heart! ...Read more
