Colonoscopy Prep And Clear Yellow Stool
Mild bleeding seen in otherwise clear stool during colonoscopy prep w/ increased llq pain, should I keep going & finish am dose?
I have been on clear liquid diet all day and started colonoscopy prep 4.5 hours ago. I have drank 2 liters of movi-prep without a BM. What should I do?
Continue prep: Continue the prep as prescribed. If you have not had good BMs prior to time for the procedure, let the doctor who is going to do the procedure know. If your colon is not cleared out, the doctor will not be able to see well enough for the colonoscopy to be of any value. You may need to be prescribed a different bowel prep. ...Read more
Good morning, I will be starting my colonoscopy prep tomorrow. Can I use a small amount of 2% milk in EARLY morning coffee, then start my clear liquid?
Sure: That amount won't make any difference. But I'm a little concerned that bending this "rule" may lead you to bend a few more. Improper or inadequate prep for a colonscopy is the biggest reason many have to be repeated because the exam was suboptimal/inconclusive. You wouldn't want to repeat it. I would strongly encourage you to follow the prep instructions PRECISELY. It's one day:) ...Read more

Blood in stool for couple months. Had colonoscopy and everything looked good. Had a 2 mm polyp removed had CT scan and other blood test and nothing found. Ate yellow corn last night and it's dyed red. Is that from blood in my stool? What should I do?
Depends: On if you have blood or not in your stool. If the color of stool is red but no blood that is normal and is due diet or medications or drinks. If blood is in the stool an evaluation is warranted. At least a rectal examination looking for fissures, external hemorrhoid or new rectal lesions or ulcers ...Read more

Stop worrying: You have nothing to worry about except that fact that you are still a smoker, which i hope you'll stop. Possibly: The prep called GoLytly is polyethelyne glycol which when ingested causes an outpouring of body fluid into the GI tract which can lead to dehydration. It is more important to have a bland diet without roughage several days before and use a Fleet enema (sodium bisphosphate) to clean the distal colon. A clean colon is the important issue and not the total use of oral meds to clean out the bowel. ...Read more

Took 400mg of presc magnesium this am before starting colonoscopy prep. Noticed suprep has magnesium. Is it ok that i took magnesium supplement.
Probably ok: The magnesium supplement you took was probably eliminated during the bowel cleansing process, which uses a magnesium-based laxative such as magnesium citrate. The magnesium in the bowel prep isn't absorbed by the body but passes through the intestines and causes the bowel-cleansing cathartic effect. Check with your pcp or gastroenterologist. ...Read more
Doing colonoscopy prep. On second laxative and all that comes out is a bit of yellowish solid that falls to the bottom of the toilet. Was liquid before. What is it?
