Doctor removed 18 polyps last colonoscopy, next colonoscopy if find any might need surgery to remove section of colon! What if I elect non-surgery?

Possibly: If you are at an academic center working with pediatric GI and radiology specialists, this can be a great alternative if you just need to look. If they think biopsies are going to be needed, then won't work. And, unfortunately, you do need pretty much the same cleanout so you can get good images form the camera and be able to see what is really going on. Insert drain: Ileostomy after rectal cancer is used to protect the rectal resuturing to establish continuity in the bowel. II there is some kind of abscess and leakage it can occur where the ileostomy has been reversed or at the site of the rectal suture line which may not have been ready for closure. Need more info: A cone biopsy isn't a vaginal wall repair, but perhaps your physician did both. Ask, or get a copy of the operative note and see what is described. Billing for a procedure not done would be fraud and most physicians are honest, so it may have been done or could be a coding error. ...Read more
