Can I have Werther's Original Caramel Hard Candies the day before my colonoscopy? I am on a clear liquid diet.

Can I have Werther's Original Caramel Hard Candies the day before my colonoscopy? I am on a clear liquid diet.

Yes: The hard candies will dissolve into soft or liquid form before they reach your bowel. While they are not quite clear, they are close enough. And the volume they would produce would be very small. I probably would not do more than 5 or 6 of them, though; maybe 10 at the most. None on day of procedure. Clearer/lighter hard candy would be better. Keep up the water!! Good luck! ...Read more

Is Crohn's disease hard to diagnose? Colonoscopy EGD are norm beside minor inflamed cecum and ileum. Dr wants to do capsule test. So many tests!

Some times it can be: Most crohns affect the terminal ileum as well as the cecum. However as crohns can affect any part of the gi tract, a capsule endoscopy is helpful to find other lesions. My preference is to do a ct or MRI enterography, especially in an untreated crohns patient who I suspect may have tight areas (strictures). Hope this helps! ...Read more

Calprotectin 680 with right abdomen pain. Colonoscopy clean, stool hard and sometimes liquid. Still got a bit of pain and bloating. 100% Crohns right?
